Need your esteemed opinions on a rear loader set-up for my Ford 8N. Have barn & small feed lot scraping in mind along with just picking up stuff around our 10 acres. Hard to justify front loader $$ when main purpose of tractor is cutting weeds with a 5' rotary. Any advise-opinions? Happy y2k---Mike D.

You might as well try the 3pt loader, after all they are only about 10% of the cost of front end loader, so the investment is small. Most of the 8Ns that I've used don't do so well with a front end loader because their steering system is a bit outdated. Adding a loader (and a load) to the front makes steering less fun.
Better to add weight to the back and enjoy a fine tractor. ....

I used a rear loader on the back of an 8N. It worked well and the only complaint I had was that it wouldn't achieve sufficient height for repeated dumpings in one spot. ....

Check out this URL. http://my.voyager.net/pooh/Padghome.htm

He has put together a couple rather robust rear loaders. Would be more versatile than a scoop. ....
